AFTER ALL the waspish things I’ve
said about French wines,
Bordeaux whites in particular, |
might have to get used to the taste
of my own words here.

Might be bearable if | can wash
them down with this; crisp, clean
well-nade vin blanc that will do
very nicely with finger food, fish or
chicken in iighter sauces. Nice to
get change back from a 10-spot,
too.

Despite the formidably millenial
bin number, this is an immediately
likable, frisky little chardonnay
that produces as much bang for
your buck in flavor and all-round
sound structure as wines that will
leave you with several less loonies
making an embarrassing rattle in
your pocket.

Not Puligny-Montrachet, but a
friend’s rule of thumb is “Never
drink anything you can’t pro-
nounce.”

Presentable plonk at a porch-
climber price.

If you can find it (} can’t even
find it in the guide), this goes for
just under $20. which is pushing
the envelope price-swise, and let's
not go on about how much
cheaper it is in California,

Distinctive signature nose,
truckloads of ripe fruit with cedary
underpinnings that hold the whole
thing together,

Marvelous big woofy wine, still
young and purple. Could do with
a good lie down. A couple of
glasses of this and you'll need one
yourself,
