BRIEFS Trial set THE DRUG-related trial of a man charged with posses- sion of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking will begin in West Vancouver provincial court on Monday, Jan. 18. Justin King made a brief appearance in West Van- couver provincial court on Tuesday. King was charged in connection with a May 12 inci- dent. On that night, West Vancouver police drug squad members and North Vancouver RCMP burst into a house at 129 East 26th St. North Vancouver resident Daniel Possee, 22, was fatally shot in the chest by West Vancouver Police Const. Tim Pollitt after Possee had turned and pointed what the police believed to be a shotgun at them. The weapon turned out to be a pellet rifle. Aithough the police had a search warrant, Possee was aot named in the document. The police were instead looking for Possee’s sister Kelly and King; her former boyfriend, neither of whom was at the house at ‘the time, A coroner’s inquest into Possee’s death will resume next April. ‘Roof fire fought -& NORTH Vancouver City Fire Department crew was called recently to the 500-block of East Ist Street to ex- tinguish a roof fire. _ According to a fire department spokesman, the Dec. 4 fire started at about 1:30 p.m. while roofers were at work at 543 East tst St. A propane torch ignited an area behind some siding. The fire progressed up a wall and into the attic. Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to extinguish the fire. By Michael Becker News Reporier @ According to a police spokesman, at 2:40 p.m. on Dec. 4, the police executed a search warrant’ in the 3700-block of Dollarton Highway. Four people were arrested and charged with cultivation and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. Several marijuana plants were seized. Those charged will appear in court at a later date, @ On Dec. 16, at 7:30 a.m., the North Vancouver drug squad ex- ecuted a search warrant in the 400-block of Keith Road in West Vancouver. Three males were arrested and charged with possession of cocaine (several ounces) for the purpose of trafficking. @ A search warrant executed at 8 p.m. on Dec. 17 in the 600-block of Mahon Avenue resulted in charges being laid against a North Vancouver male and a North Vancouver female. The two were charged with possession of cocaine (several ‘grams) for the purpose of traf- ficking, possession of unregistered restricted weapons (rifles), and one count of possession of stolen property. Both are adult and both were released to appear in court at a later date. The names of those charged were withheld by the police.
