inquiring reporter Elizabeth Collings NY students NORTH VANCOUVER School District 44 students continue to achieve above-average results in most Grade 12 subjects tested by provincial exams, assistant school superintendent Chris Kelly told the district’s board at Tuesday night’s meeting. Only in Spanish and Com- munications 12 did local Grade 12 students fail to beat the proyincial averages. A comparison of mean averages shown by Kelly indicated that North Vancouver students were most successful in German, Phys- ics, Algebra and English. Only three local students wrote last year’s German 12 exam, but they scored 14.89 per cent higher than the rest of their provincial counterparts. The 156 who were tested in Physics 12 achieved a mean average grade that was 6.5 per cent higher than the provincial average, while the 538 who wrote the Algebra exam scored 5.79 per cent higher. Local students maintained their success in the English 12 test, a compulsory exam that was written by 27,700 B.C. students, 1,099 of them from North Vancouver. Their mean score was 3.96 per cent higher than the provincial average.
