BUSINESS NORTH SHORE STRATEGY Economic evelopment Commission hires officer THE NORTH Shore Economic Development Commission West 15th Street in North Van- (NSEDC) program is underway in earnest with the recent hiring of Bennie Pyplacz as economic development officer. Pyplacz, a resident of North Vancouver, is also treasurer of the Economic Development Associa- tion of B.C. She worked most recently as a manager with the North Fraser Investanent Corpora- tion in Mission. Pyplacz’s mandate is to imple- ment economic development strategies outlined by the commis- sion. The strategies, which focus on transportation concerns, the marine sector and tourism, are the culmination of coordinaved input from close to 100 interested North Shore citizens and municipal of- ficials. The commission is jointly fund- ed by the three North Shore municipalities and the province and is supported by Capilano Col- lege and the local chambers of commerce.
