"Ox rum starting NORTH VANCOUVER student Thomas Mould will have a special interest in this weekend’s 1988 Terry Fox Run to raise money in aid of cancer research. In remission from Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma since his last tide to Vancouver’s Children’s Hospital in July, the youngster will fire the starting gun to kick off the event, “Pm going to go all 10 kilometres,’’ Mould, 12, promised of his participation in the run, which will see him joined in the event by brother Daniel, 10, and best friend Jason Irvine, also 12. “T wouldn’t miss it for the world,’’ Selected by his community as part of Terry’s Team to raise local awareness of cancer treatment suc- cesses, he expects to top his earlier pledge total. “So far I’ve got $175,”” he said proudly. ‘*But I want to beat last year’s (total), which was $325.” Each member of Terry’s Team — among them Emanuel Boateng of Trail and Jarrod Booth of Saltspring Island — collects pledges from people who would like to contribute, but are unable to jog, walk or ride in the event. Mould, a Highlands Community School student and member of the North Vancouver Youth Band, has received considerable media atten- tion over the last weeks for his part in the fund raiser. “T think it’s great — I love it,” he said of all the hoopla around him. “I feel like I'm famous.”’ When he is not busy being the centre of attention, he and his best friend spend a lot of their time riding their bikes around the neighborhood. UL Pledge sheets and entry forms are available at recreation facilities and corporate sponsors: Shoppers Drug Marts, Kentucky Fried Chicken outlets, Scotiabank bran- ches, K Mart stores and various post offices. Registration for the Sept. 18 run is 8 a.m. at Eaton’s Plaza at Park Royal’s south mall; the run — both five- or 10-kilometre routes — begins at 9 a.m. For more run details, call 926- 3266 or 984-4181.
