Bob Hunter suggests that hy
swallowing the world’s 14 million
refugees in one gulp Canada would
become the “new New Jerusalem"
(Aug. 23). T would rather think it
would become the new Beirut.
Talk about ethnic indigestion!

Hunter sees no reason why a
Canadian face must necessarily be
white. No, but must every Cana-
dian city resemble the bar scene
from Star Wars?) Multi-racialism is
one thing, but multi-lingualism
and multi-culturalism is not viable
on the seale he imagines.

And where would Hunter’s 15
million live? The arctic tunera,
Baffin Istand, the Canadicn
Shield? Not a chance — Van-
couver, Toronto and Montreal.
And you think we have a problem
with illegal suites and highrises
now!

Has Hunter the environmentalist
considered the impact of 15 million
extra souls upon the landscape?
How many more dams,
powerlines, pipelines, strip mines
