Capilano Liberals
elect executive

THE LIBERAL Party in the fed-
eral Capilano riding elected a new
executive board at its recent annual
party meeting at the Capilano
Gardens Restaurant.

A turnout of over 125 party
members elected Scott Stewart as
the riding’s president,

The West Vancouver lawyer
took over the position from past
president Bryan Baynham, who
will now be in charge of party fi-
nance,

Dorothy Campbell was elected
vice-president while Don
Kavanaugh was elected party sec-

retary.

Mike Downing was elected trea-
surer, and Peter Jones will be in
charge of candidate development.

In all, 12 executive positions
were filled in the party elections.

Following his election, Stewart
said, ‘‘All our efforts and activities
will be geared to defeating the
Mulroney government. Our
membership is growing rapidly, we
are developing a sound policy piat-
form, and we have identified sev-
cral outstanding individuals who
are interested in’ representing the
riding in the next election."’
