Cap gym supported

WEST Vancouver School Board voted to support the
Municipality of West Vancouver in spending money
on a proposed Capilano College sports facility.

The board voted three to one in favor of sending a
letter of suppert to the municipality.

Board member Margot Furk opposed the motion
and member Barbara Howard abstained as her hus-
band had ties to the facility project.

But school board chairman George Suart told the
board that West Vancouver District 45 and the

municipality should support the facility as the school
district would use it for special athletic events and
students would use the facility.

Furk said the board should only provide informa-
tion to the municipality and should not aike a posi-
tion, supportive or opposed, on the municipality giv-
ing funds to the project.

The municipality had sent a letter to the board ask-
ing the board for information on how West Van-
couver students would use the facility.
