Gavin Soanes of the North Vancouver City Fire department said Monday the early stages of the investiga- ‘tion into the fire revealed it had started in a room of the basement suite other than the bedroom in which the victim’s body was found. He said it appeared the blaze was accidental, with the fire gutting the entire basement suite. Soanes said there was no fire damage to the upstairs of the home, however, there was extensive smoke damage throughout the upper floor. Soanes said there were no smoke alarms installed anywhere in the home.
