Beyond Seeing is a show by two photographers who are also psychology professionals — psychiatrist Joel Walker and psychologist Judy Weiser. Unlike most exhibits where people ' wander through (usually in somewhat hushed tones) passively absorbing, Beyond Seeing is designed to en- courage interaction with the photos —- : Sometimes in - writing ‘responses to questions: -: provided along with the.photo:.or in a handout,: sometimes by creating stories: “about the: pictures. * ; People can learn about themselves and _ others through their reactions to the photos. Théy can also take a guided tour of the photos with the artist. What is done with the exhibit is up to those viewing it. The artists will collect and keep the responses for further feedback. You can remain anonymous with your reactions, if you wish. Although the idea of the exhibit and its photos come from two photographers who are also therapists (and who use photography as tools to help people), this show is not intended to be of a heavy, serious, analytical nature, “but to be fun. ~ “Walker and Weiser have : had: many gallery shows of their photos and have en- <"joyed the reactions of othrs to their ‘work. They invite the: “public ‘to adventure along with them, to take active part in seeing how one sees what one sees. Both believe strongly in demystifying the artist's role, and exploring with people what these photos mean. Walker. and Weiser will be at Presentation House during the opening weekend, and will be there regularly thereafter. Special arrangements can be made through Presentation House for particular groups or focused tours. Sign language interpretation cna be provided with prior notice. All ages welcome.
