The study, undertaken at the request of Director Georg Helenius, Bowen Island's representative on the GVRD Board, ts looking at the cost and feasibility of operating two express buses during morning and _af- ternoon rush hours which would connect with ferry service to Bowen Island. Initial estimates indicate that express service to downtown Vancouver, via the Upper Levels Highway with a stop at Park Royal, would take about 30 minutes, about half the ume of the Horseshoe Bay to Vancouver run along Marine Drive. The new service, if it goes into effect, would supplement, not replace, the Eyesore lingers FROM PAGE A1 dominiums up in arms. The reason for the delay, said Mayor Humphreys last week hes in the Municipal Act, which requires owners to be given 60 days to comply with a _ council demolition order. The controversial 20- storey highrise development remains stalled because the owners have hitherto refused to accept council’s require- ment for a 50 ft. side allowance. At the May 10 “show cause” hearing Harry Erlich- man, spokesman for Bay Beach Towers Ltd., offered to demolish the old houses if council would agree to a 30 ft. side allowance which would increase the ocean views available in the pro- MICRO POCKET RECORDER > wins 7 posed tower. Abraham Erlichmana, a principal of Bay Beach Towers Ltd., declined last week to give any indication of the next step by the owners. Asked whether Bay Beach Towers would comply with the council’s demolition order, he told The News: “I know nothing at the present time ... nothing.” Harry Erlichman, his son, could not be reached for comment. gota white elephant? sellit!
