Compared with last year, dollar volume for the 1976 - 77 series of CSB was up 22 per cent from $35,210,500 to $42,866,850 and participants in the payroll deduction campaign increased 14 cent from 41,604 to 47,412. There were 492 groups offering the payroll purchase plan to employees and of these 341 exceeded last year’s doilar volume and 270 establishments reportéd more applications. There were 42 new estab- lishments participating in the plan this year for the first time with total sales of $1,170,500 and 1,434 new purchasers of bonds out of the 8,278 employees. Aver- age application rose from $846.32 to $904.14. ‘‘What is impressive,”’ said George Sherwood, ‘‘is - the growth over the years of the number of participants in the Canada Savings Bonds payroll deduction plan. *“Since 1972 an, additional 14,000 employees have pur- chased the bonds.
