The company recently installed a Canon color bubble-jet copier. Bubble-jet biz buzzes THE MACHINE iooms large in the store window. It is the current king of color copiers. A tall person stepping up to the 926-pound piece of hardware momentarily feels himself automatically reduced to 75 per cent. But the technology allows its users to realize larger than life color ambitions. Copying capacity ranges from 50 per cent reductions up to 1,200 per cent enlargements (24 by 36 feet, or 12, 24-foot strips). Naomi Yamamoto held an open house at Lasercolor in North Vancouver last week to introduce her latest acquisition, a Canon Color Bubble-Jet copier, to the public. Since October 1988, her business has brought state-of- the-art design and printing service — once available only to bigger companies with the bucks to burn — to clients looking for afford- able smaller runs of product or single piece items. The range of services now in- cludes design, color laser copying, black and white laser copying, graphics, typesetting, commercial photography, laminating, dry- mounting and binding. But back to the bubble-jet, an investment comparable in value to the North Vancouver con- dominium in which Yamamoto lives: ‘“} can’t believe this will probably be out of date in a cou- ple of years. Something else will come along to do twice as much for half the price. It’s scary. You know you have to make your money back in two years before it’s out of date.’ 155% RRSP DEDUCTION Most investors receive a deduction of 100% on their RRSP contribution. Some earn tax savings equivalent to a 155% deduction or more. To find out if you qualify for these additional tax savings, contact: ROY GOULD 669-1143 Great Pacific Managment Co. Led. The copier, one of three in the Lower Mainland, digitally scans the image to be reproduced. Digital processing allows for ma- nipulation of the image. The bubble in the jet works like this: There are four color print heads, cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Each head is one square inch in size and contains 256 noz- gles. An ink bubble is created through the application of heat. The oubble is cooled, and in the contraction it’ pops on to the paper. But beyond the bubble, one of Yamamoto’s more unusual jobs entailed the making of money to make money. “North Shore Studios needed fake U.S. money for a prop. We Michael Becker HIGH TECH got police clearance and made some stacks,”’ she said. The bulk of Lasercolor’s clients are manufacturers and distributors in need of marketing aids. Then probably what you desire and the going price for such a dream house are mutually exclusive. There is no perfect house, and very few families can afford everything they want. This means com- promise. You might have to trade off certain desirable features to get a house with other more important ones. For example, you may find yourself giving up a_ short commuting distance to get a house with more land or vice versa. You could give up a family room, say, for a second bath — then add the farnily room you real- ly want later on, when you can better afford it. Make a list of your top Priorities, such as location, schools, number of bedrooms. This will do double duty. It will steer you to the house that comes closest to what you want now, and one that will also satisfy your probable future needs. ~eee If there is anything we can do to help you in the field of real estate, please phone us at Royal LePage, 985-8231 or 925-9486. .
