Industrial hockey league, as they both dropped to 0-6-1 after last week’s action. Brewins came close, as they went down to the North Shore News 8-6, but it was a one-sided event for the Chasers, as they crumbled 9-3 to the surging Westlynn Super Valu. In the only other contest last week, Sight and Sound Blackhawks jolted Wrigleys Canadians 7-1 to solidify their hold on first place. For Super Valu, they were led by league scoring leader Tom Thorpe, as he pushed his goal total to 10 on the season by firing a hat trick, while Mike Campbell and YOURSE Lf 149 LONSDALE N. VANCOUVER Scott Scheer each chipped in with a pair. Jeff Wilshut and Kevin Berg notched singles for the winners. For the Lyn- nwood, Vince Mitchel] scored a goal and assisted on another by John Scroten as the Chasers could only ‘Manage one goal a period. Steve Phillip scored the first goal of the game 45 seconds from the start before Super Valu answered with three before the period ended. Phil Keefe dashed any hopes for N.S. Hobby Brewins, picking up their first win, as he scored four goals and set up a pair by linemate Gord Shearer to give the N.S. News a much needed victory. The win mov- ed the News three points ahead of Wrigleys and left them tied with N.S. Japan Camera, which holds a game in hand. Also scoring for the News were Mike Schemmer and Barry Mah adding singles. For the Brewins, John Kachmar drilled three goals while Dan Schoenfelder add- ed a goal and three assists. Mario Pimental and_ lan Crane scored late third period goals to put the game close, but couldn’t manage to pull out a tie, as solid netmin- ding by Scott Kerry closed the door. Sight and Sound received a four point night from Russ Barclay, as he scored twice and set up two more. Also scoring a pair was Steve Blyth as he notched his seventh and eighth goals of the season. Rounding out the scoring was Jerry Bell-Irving, Joe Doserro and Randy Telford. Rob Gilfoil spoiled the shutout for Blackhawks goalie, Glen Chalmers when he scored his seventh goal of the campaign late in the third period.
