The 40-year-old Burnaby man drew the attention of about a dozen onlookers, mostly News emplovees, as he struggled with a couple of North Van Mounti The Mounties wrestled him to the ground and arrest- ed him for mischief. The man, who declined to give a News photographer his name, had come into the News office in the 1100- black of Lonsdale Avenue less than 20 minutes before the scuffle with police. He dropped an anti-Doug Collins leaflet on a reception counter while screaming slo- gans about AIDS and Collins. The man was forcibly escorted out of the office by a News staffer. Police were called. Outside on the side- walk in front of the News office, the man continued to scream out such slogans as “Death by curse,” “Death by dirt” and “Doug Coliins kills.” Two men who were with him took photographs. Another man filmed the event. The ALDS activist affixed small yellow stickies saying hate” -and “lies” to the news- ~ paper’s front office window. According to a West vancouver Police spokesman, the I4-year- old boy was walking i in a parking bot in Park Royal shopping cent north mall when the aspiring male robber jumped out of an old Ford car. The teenager refused to turn over his wallet ducing. the 6:30 p.m. incident. The. would-be robber got back in the car and left, said police. No one was arrested.
