Hastings in Vancouver are treated to more than just a meal.

Tanks of live sea creatures allow the brave restaurant-goer to
take an active part in the meal. Owner Stephen Chan holds

chapter, Singing Chicken
($8.50) was recommended
both for the sizzle of its
hot-pot inspired vocals and
the abundance of its oven-
baked flavors. Our waiter
threatened to perform a duet
if the pitch of the sizzle pro-
ved inadequate. Fortunately,
the chicken came across with
a show-stopper.

Besides’ the soundtrack,
the dish proved a bountiful
presentation of chicken in
‘commanding ginger and
garlic sauce.

We closed out with Rock
Cod in Sweet and Sour sauce
($8.50), one of the nightly
Wonderful specials for the
chronically fickle who might
consider 125 dishes too
abrupt a selection.
