Building up staff for Expo ‘86

GEOFFREY CRAVEN,
Federal Coordinator for Ex-
po 86, announced the ap-
pointment of Edward J. Kel-
ly as the Coordinator, Essen-
tial Services, for Expo 86.
Kelly’s appointment is effec-
tive immediately. He 1s
located at the Expo 86 head-
quarters in Vancouver.
Kelly, who has recently left
the Canadian Forces in the
rank of Captain (N), is a
native of Toronto and a
graduate of Dalhousie
University and the Canadian
Forces Staff College. He has

he commanded the Canadian
destroyers Assiniboine and
Iroquois and from 1977 to
1979 was a Drirector of
Studies at the Royal Naval
Staff College in Greenwich,
England. His most recent
Position was that of Poryject
Manager for MCOIN, the
strategic command and con-
trol system for the Maritime
Command Headquarters in
Halifax.

identifying and making ar-
rangements for the effective
augmentation of existing
federal government services
in the Vancouver area, such
as transportation, customs
and immigration, com-
munications, security and the
many other areas which will
have to meet the needs of ex-
hibitors and visitors during
Expo 86. .

operational planning makes
him ideally suitable for this
position,’’ said Craven. ‘*He

will be working closely with
the Expo 86 management
team and with the regional
directors of federal depart-
ments and agencies in British
Columbia to ensure that
federal support is effectively
rendered.’’
