A DAM of tree leaves
in house gutters can
cause ice to build up in
winter and creep under
roof shingles, causing
roof damage, water
leaks on interior
ceilings and wall, and
possibly dry rot later.

Leaves left lying on your
lawn are not only unsightly,
but harmful as well. A
covering of leaves can hold
in moisture and promote the
growth of snow mold. A
thick mat of soggy leaves
will hinder the early
development of a spring
lawn by shading new grass
shoots. And merely mowing
the leaves and spreading the
chopped debris with the
clippings can add to the
buildup of thatch in many
grass varieties.

Thatch is a layer of living
and dead stems, roots and
debris. Although a shallow
thatch is beneficial, a thick
mat acts like a sheet of
plastic to restrict the
penetration of water and
fertilizer to grass roots.

For all these reasons, it is
wise to remove leaves and
heavy debris in autumn to
prevent trouble later.

the machine to help you do
the job quickly and easily.

A lightweight power
blower, for example, can
whisk leaves out of gutters
and downspouts with a
powerful blast of air.
Blowers can gencrate an air
velocity of up to 180 mph,
providing plenty of power to

prevent water damge to your
