Josip and Lucy Kaurinovic forfeited $20,000 in connection with an Aug. 30 decision in North Vancouver provincial caurt. The couple had put up the bail money for 36-year-old Ivan Pelegrin, described as the ‘‘main active agent’ in a trafficking case associated with July 1992 activities in Vancouver. The Kaurinovics were friends of Marija Xokanovic’s mother. Kokanovic, 26, was Pelegrin’s girlfriend. She was also originally charged along with Pelegrin with possessing the three pounds (1.4 kg) of pure China white heroin for trafficking purposes. But Kokanovic was found not guilty of the charge in June. Pelegrin left the country shortly after being released on bail. He is reportedly in Croatia. Interpol has issued .a warrant for his arrest. Moss said the ‘aurinovics should have called the North Vancouver RCMP whens they knew Pelegrin was missing. Kokanovic reported Pelegrin missing in a 9-1-1 phone call.
