continues to seck a
stop to construction of
a recreational road in
the Lower Seymour

Conservation Reserve
(LSCR).

Last Friday the LSCR
Steering Conumittee support-
ed continuation of the work,
SPEC is concerned that a
portion oof — the — historic
Lillooet Trail has been buried
and a rare ecosystem: will be
disturbed to) make way for
cyclists, hikers and in-line
skaters. SPEC will appear
before the Greater Vancouver
Water Districe board Sept. 29.

Inventor
honoured

NORTH Vancouver
sub-sea technology
innovator Phil Nuytten
will be honoured next
month by B.C.’s dive
and marine communi-
ty.

Nuytten will be the guest
of honour at the Underwater
Council of B.C.’s ocean pio-
neer dinner Oct. 14 at the
Vancouver Aquarium Marine
Science Centre. Joining
Nuytten will be Dr. Sylvia
Earle, a scientist, marine
explorer, environmentalist
and longtime friend of
Nuytten.

Nuytten founded Can-
Dive Service Ltd. and devel-
oped the Newt Suit, a deep-
sea work suit. He has also
developed multi-person subs.
