your canine companion along
can make it even more enjoy-
able.

Ensure you have aif your
camping necessities the day
before you leave. Get your
pooch’s camping stuff ready
at the same time. The day of
departure tends to be rushed
as ferry schedules and high-
way traffic are pondered.

The most important thing
to consider is whether your
intended campsite allows

dog. Also, your dog might be
more comfortable wearing a
harness as opposed to a collar
when leashed all day. A har-

entire camping tip, plus two
days. It is inevitable that you
will do more hiking and walk-
ing than usual, so your dog
might become more hungry
than usual. By having a cou-
ple of extra days food, you
ensure that your dog will be
fed its reguiar diet and not
those burned hot dogs which
will Icad to an upset stomach.

Once you have set camp,

a walk so your dog can get
used to the area. If this is the
first camping wip for your
pet, the disturbance in rou-
tine may make your dog a lit-
tle anxious around the camp-
site. Bring some of its
favourite toys along to help
case any anxiety. My
Doberman has a security
blanket that is as old as he is.
He drags this stinky thing
around everywhere but it
helps him feel comforted in
strange environments. If your
dog is crate trained, consider
bringing it along.

Your dog’s fur does not
prevent mosquitoes from bit-
ing. Apply a repellent to their
coat as you would on your-
self. Read the directions and
be careful when applying
around the cars, nosc, cyes
