We were not left alone to face the might of the Nazis, who, in a few short months, had subjugated the whole of Europe with the aid of the Soviet Union and the jack- anapes Mussolini. There they were, inviting themselves into what seemed to be an impossible situation out of a profound sense of honor and duty and a desire to stand with their friends in the face of the greatest evil the world has ever seen. From these modest begin- nings came a Canadian mili- tary force which, in terms of population, was the single greatest contribution to the Allied war effort. The backbone of this glo- rious performance was the Canadian Militia Regiments: the “Saturday Night Soldiers”; the Black Watch of Canada; the 7th Field Royal Regiment of Artillery; the Royal Engineers, who virtual- ly built B.C.; the British Columbia Regiment; the Rocky Mountain Rangers; Lord Strathcona’s Horse; the Irish Fusiliers; and, perhaps closest of all to the hearts of British Columbians, the Seaforth Highlanders of — mother’s distress and tears was being blatantly sneered at in this ‘news’ item. You might have located a photo also, other than a previously print- ed “mug” shot. North Shore News is affiliated with the Corrter and the West End Times, wherein normally the writing is good and has won some awards. This “article” resembles something seen in the Enquirer, Globe or Star. There was also no need later for a News reporter to “vampire” over to the death crash scene where many flow- ers, candles, letters, cards and a cross were placed and his Canada. Of all the damage done to the fabric of our country by the gormless Paul Hellyer, the evnical Pierre Trudeau, his political hitman Jean Chretien and the rest of the frontmen for the Liberal French Fact, surely the worst and most subtle has been the progressive destruction by these venial time-servers of the symbols of Canada’s glo- rious heritage — most notably the Canadian Armed Forces. These are now an interna- tional joke. The general assuming command of NATO forces this week said that Canadians were only suitable for support and peace-keeping roles and could not be trusted “at the sharp end.” They have become deimeor- alized and rendered useless for anything but janitorial duties by the forces of politi- cal correctness and the requirement of the Liberal Party of Canada to placate the French Canadian element ar all costs. The abiding image of Canada in the world is not the great monumenton Vimy Ridge where Canada defined itself as a nation nor the war cemeteries in Normandy and Holland and girlfriend was having a private moment until ignorantly and shockingly disrupted and asked further questions. Aaron did long ago donate his eyes, skin and bones for transplant use which added to the trauma of the entire death and funeral. I like to see him in my memory the way he looked before and for his con- cera for others — like last year when it snowed and I was stuck in the hills. Twice he came up and drove me to the SeaBus and got me there in the nick of time. Yes, he was spceding. Aaron usually was -- or often. It is rather the picture of a young Canadian officer “peace- keeping” while chained to a post for days, like a sacrificial goat. Even more sinister, it is the murder by the “peace- keepers” of little boys in Somalia whose very blood cries out for vengeance. What they got was the punishment of the lowest possible underlings while the bureaucrats in uniform lied and perjured themselves and destroyed evidence and cov- ered up their criminal neglect of dury and incompetence. They were finally saved by the direct intervention of Chretien himself when the royal commission set up to investigate these horrifying - events and expose the cor- ruption and villainy actually started to do just that, con- trary to every tradition of the Royal Canadian White-Wash. These are the guardians of Canada’s sense of honor and duty which I saw as a tiny boy in 1940. “Every last one of them should be hounded from the public service whether civil or military.
