JOE JETTER of West Vancouver receives the Canada Voiun-
teer Award of Merit from Associate Minister of National
Defence Mary Collins at a ceremony heid recently at Lynnmour
Community School. The award recognizes Jetter’s 30 years of
service to the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of Greater Vancouver
where Jetter acted as a strong advocate for youth. Jetter has
been the director and the president of the society and has
been active in raising donations for the operations of the '
clubs’ capital projects. In August, the Boys’ end Girls’ Clubs
presented Jetter with the 1989 Friend of Youth Award. The
Canadian certificate of merit recognizes individuals who have
made valuable voluntary contributions towards improving the

THE CANADIAN Toy Testing
Council has awarded Lego
Canada Inc. with the Toy of the
Year Award for 1990 for its entire
line of Duplo and Lego products,
rather than for just an individual
toy.

These toys are outstanding for
their play value and appeal to a
wide age range of both boys and
girls, the Toy Council said.

As well, the council has released
its annuals Best Bets List which
names toys which receive the
highest rating of three stars from
the council.

The council’s goal is to honor
toy manufacturers for imagina-
tive, innovative toy designs which
satisfy children's play needs.

Awards of Excellence to the

Bets and Toy of the Year were
presented in Ottawa recently.
