7 - Wednesday, September 28, 1988 - North Shore News MAILBOX [2 is dangerous OPEN LETTER TO JACK DAVIS, MLA, NORTH VAN- COUVER-SEYMOUR 1 wrote to you last year regar- ding the traffic situation at Keith Road and fower Mountain High- way. Having witnessed numerous ac- cidents ut the intersection of Keith Road and Mountain Highway, | am writing again in the hope that something will be done before someone is killed. Keith Road is a lead-on to a highway, and it seems unbelievable that we buve traffic turning left, including buses. across highway traffic. Sinee my last fetter to you, there has been a sign put up siating “turning vehicles.” This does ab- solutely no good, as the majority of people do not know the sign is even there. Asthe North Shore Winter Club is intending vo develop its property why not take advantage of this sit- uation? [Tt scene. quite: reasonable that an overpass could be con: structed at the intersection of Mountain Highway and Keith Road, and 2 road built between the North Shore Winter Club and Kodak. This road could be con- nected to the roads leading off lower Mountain Highway, ie. Crown or Charlotte. Thus, traffic wishing to go to Main Street or lower Mountain Highway could use this route, and Keith Road could be exclusively used for highway traffic. Lower Mountain Highway could be blocked off at Keith preventing ali left turns or even right turns, mak- ing it just a turn on for highway traffic. Is this teo much to ask before we have a fatality? Is it too much to ask that North Vancouver gets an improved read system? | have lived in’ North Vancouver since 1970, and t have seen little or no improvement since then, Let's get a move on sow, don't let aaother 20 years pass us by. Miers. bo VEiIIS Sorth Vancouver Cyciists ‘arrogant’ Dear Editor: What is it going to take to bring cyclists into conformity with the traffic laws of this province? How is it that they are complete- ly exempt from licensing, in- surance coverage, observance of traffic regulations and all the other rules of the road applying to mov- ing vehicles? How have they developed this immunity to all of the above? Deliver the mail Dear Editor: We in new subdivisicns are discriminated against by Canada Post's usc of Supermailboxes. These new subdivisions are not hundreds of mites out in the wilderness, they are right next door to areas already served ‘‘door-to- door,”’ The solution is simple: scrap all the Supermailboxes and deliver mail door-to-door Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to those addresses which normally expect door-to-door delivery.
