But 23-year-old Surrey resident Kosta Pantazopoulos captured first prize and a trip to Hawaii for his five-minute winning perfor- mance. “I've been singing ever since | can remember,’’ said Pan- tazopoulos, who hopes to become a professional recording artist. “From what I’ve heard I’ve been singing ever since I could walk — but I don’t remember that.’’ Pantazopoulos sang in both Greek and English to beat out 16 other singers. But he turned the opportunity down because he could not emigrate to Greece with his newly-acquired Canadian citi- zensnip. In addition to English and Greek, the 23-year-old singer also speaks ‘‘some French,’’ and hopes to one day perform in several lan- guages.
