A34 - Wednesday, April 18, 1984 - North Shore News B.C. suffers most: report THE ECONOMIC recession and cut-backs in fun- ding for education are having a harmful effect on the social and learning environments of young peo- ple, according to a study released by the Canadian Teachers’ Federation. Although the study found that the harmful trends exist across the country, the situa- uon in British Columbia was the worst even before the round of cuts the schools will face this spring. The study, called ‘““Economic Recession = and the Quality of Education: Some Threatening Trends,"’ was conducted by Ronald J. Burke, from the faculty at York University in Ontario.
