Here in North Vancouver,
video technology has been
teamed up with religion to
produce the ‘‘video bible
school.””

The video bible school is
held twice a week at the Elim
Christian Centre, and has
been carrying on for three
years. According to school
principal John Cann,
students in their teens or
older meet for three-hour bi-
ble study sessions.

Six courses are being run,
with about eight to 12
students per course. Cann
said these evening courses
lead to a two-year bible col-
lege diploma from the Word
of Faith Leadership and Bi-
ble Institute in Dallas, which
regularly send the video-
tapes.

According to Cann, at
least two other churches in
the Vancouver area have ex-
perimented with video bible
studies, although they
haven’t continued with them.
A church in Maple Ridge us-
ed to use video-tapes to teach
their bible school, but now
receives live bible lessons via
satellite, Cann explained.

The Elim Christian Centre
is a volunteer association
