Not all candidates, however, may be present. The nominations deadline is noon, Monday, October 27 — four days after the WVEA meeting. In previous elections some _ candidates have not revealed their intentions until the last moment. Endorsed candidates are then backed by WVEA publicity and advertising. Paid-up membership of the association in previous years has averaged 150-200. The WVEA claims to be your interest, study it and compare it with information gathered from other sources about the area, such as the local history. A visit to the University of British Columbia is well advised and will reveal to you thousands of sheet maps, atlases and gazetteers, for every country in the world. If at all possible, deter- mine your ancestor's religious affiliation. For example, West Van's longest serving alderman, Don Lanskail (now in his been elected without WVEA Mayor Derrick Humphreys, campaigning on his own in the mayoralty race, decisively defeated the official WVEA _ mayoralty candidate.
