BLOM The Lynn Valley com- munity has its big annual day again this Saturday, May 31, when the local Lions club sponsors its yearly ex- travaganza, “Lynn Valley Day”. The festivities begin at 8:30 a.m. with a pancake breakfast followed by the opening of booths at Karen Magnussen Arena and Triangle Park and the Grand Race for entrants up to 16, starting from the Arena at 9:45 a.m. At 10 a.m. the colorful parade gets underway, also from the Arena, and winds its way around the Lynn Valley area to return to the Arena for the official opening ceremonies at I! a.m. — with the presen- tation of dignitaries, May Queens and the Citizen of the Year award. Sandra Chesser. of Eastview Elementary School will be crowned 1980 May Queen, attended by five lovely princesses. After that its fun and games for everyone as the day rolls on. At the Arena, an auction and puppet show. At Triangle Park, a soccer clinic organized by the Vancouver Whitecaps. followed by a soccer game between Whitecaps spares and Pegasus. Freddy Fud and _ the Rolling Clones in_ halftime entertainment. Tug-o-wars (including one between the Fire Department and the RCMP). Fietd games, Junior races and novelty races.
