McGee tried to rescue Manijeh, but the smoke was ick in the townhouse. °° Manijch has been in a vege- tative state since she was taken out of the burned townhouse on March 20, 1996. The young woman, now 25, wasn’t burned. She has permanent brain damage from smoke inhalation. For the last seven months, Manijeh has been cared for her by her mother in their West Vancouver apartment. The daughter is fed by a tube in her stomach and wears diapers.
