Motylewsky took classroom and track training at the end of March, and after three qualifying races will graduate from the novice level of race-car driv- ing. She is no stranger to rac- ing —- her father was in the European rallies in the late 50's and early 60's. “When I was little, my mom used to buy me dolls and my dad would give me cars,"' said Motylewski. “She always had con- tact,'’ said Janusz Motylewski, Joanna's f[a- ther, who also has no qualms about his daughter racing. “It's a Jot safer to race cars than to drive on the Streets -~ with all the acci- dents it's much more dan- gerous on the streets,’ he said. After the training is com- plete, Joanna competes in novice races, one of which is a three-hour endurance race. The final qualifying race in July is similar to the For- mula One race where cars can reach a speed of 160 mph.
