Dear Editor:
North Shore News’ columnist Trevor Lautens, a
West Vancouver resident, would like to sce the two
: North Vancouver municipalities amalgamate, but what
about the third North Shore municipality, West
Vancouver?
Lautens’ ill-founded arguments, if taken to their
logical conclusion, must. include West Vancouver in
any amalgamation plans for the people of North Shore.
Heaven forbid. And he thinks we in North
Vancouver city are parochial. Wait until he hears the
’ ¢eries from the British Properties and Caulfeild over
that suggestion. °

Personally, if there was an amalgamation between
all three municipalities, I would love to be the first to
suggest that the residents in the western portion of the
new municipality have their fair share of industrial
' zoning as those in the eastern portion.

Squamish Highway or over to Vancouver Island. Or
how about 4 grain elevator and a coal shipment dock
near Ambleside?. =~

the interests of North Vancouver City. residents, | will
continue to ensure that the unwanted advances of the
cash-starved suitor are spurned. And just maybe, the
district council and West Vancouver resident Trevor
Lautens will get the hint.

What part of “no” don’t they understand?

Just because the city and district of North
Vancouver share the same Jast name does not mean
they were meant to live under the same roof — just ask
district Councillor Don Bell.
