, What is the best way to re-silicone around the bathtub? -

NSWER:
b APPLYING SILICONE SEAL AROUND
THE BATHTUB:
First, you must remove the existing silicone very
carefully. Using an Olfa knife, cut away the damaged
s silicone. If required, any remaining residue can be
a: removed by using a product called SILICONE
SEALANT REMOVER by Dow Corning which can be
purchased from your local building supply store. After
cleaning the area, you must ensure that the area is
thoroughly dry before proceeding to apply a new seal.
You can make use of your hair dryer to hasten the
drying process.
Now you can begin!
First, fill the tub to the brim. By doing so you have
“pre-loaded” the tub and the floor under the tub, thus
pulling the tub away from the wall. Even though this is
so slight that it is not visible to the eye, it can allow
moisture to migrate in behind the seal, causing algae
(black substance) to grow. By filling the tub you
duplicate this function and can now properly seal the
probiem area. Now that you have “pre-loaded” the tub,
you are ready to apply the new silicone seal. ;
Make certain that you are using bathroom silicone seal.
Cut the nozzle of the tube straight across at 180
degrees. Now apply the silicone in the crevice between
the tub and the tile, starting at the end of the tub or in
one comer. Work with the tube at a 45 degree angle to
