Plan ahead:

@ Plan your route so you don’t
spoil.your holiday by getting lost,

Books provide detailed ratings and
discounts of hotels, motels,
campgrounds and restaurants, as
well as attractions.

Remember to show your CAA
membership card at virtually every
hotel, motel, event, attraction or
amusement centre when you trav-

@ If you are over 60, you should
be particularly vigilant for addi-
tional discounts that may be of-
fered.

@ Make alternative plans in case
inclement weather renders outdoor
activities impossible,

@ Dress for comfort. Wear
loose-fitting clothing, so you can
feel relaxed wherever you go.

@ Be sure to take comfortable
shoes with you for walking.

@ If you travel to Europe with
small appliances (hair blower,
electric shaver, etc.) you may need
several plug adaptors. Different
countries have differently shaped
plugs, and both over-50-watt
converters and. under-S0-watt
converters may be required, —

@ Make advance reservations for
hotels, attractions and events, and
keep a list of telephone numbers

going abroad, Do not assume that
everything costs less in another
country. Some things will cost
more, some less,
@ Keep in mind exchange rates,
duty and taxes. For instance, you
should pay a 30% to 40% lower
cover price on products in the
United States to realize a saving.
@ Inform yourself about duty
rates and limits on personal ex-
emptions, Duty on goods brought
through customs varies by country
of origin, Pick up a copy of the
“I Declare’ booklet from any
Revenue Canada customs office or
CAA office.

@ Remember that if a bargain
