Britannia/Royal Hudson celebrate anniversaries ONE OF western Canada’s . Most popular tours celebrates its {0th anniversary today. The M.V. Britannia teamed up with the 52-year-old Royal Hudson steam train in 1982 and has carried more than 350,000 passengers during the in 1940, the Royal Hudson is a_ fully-restored steam locomotive pulling 11 vintage coaches, which are all named after stops along the BC Raii main line. The train, operated by BC Rail, runs between North Van- couver and Squamish. The 40-metre long M.V. Britannia carries 300 passengers up Howe Sound to Squamish, where they board the Royal Hudson for the return trip along the coast to North Van- couver. Passengers taking the reverse trip board the Royal Hudson in North Vancouver and return home on the Britannia. An average of 410 passengers a day make the trip, and the boat-train tour has made the 72-mile round-trip over 800 times for a total of more than 60,000 miles.
