Blackcomb will install three new high-speed quad- ruple chairlifts for the 1987-88 season. These chairlifts — The Wizard, Solar Coaster and 7th Heaven Express — will cut travel time up the mountain. . The Blackcomb development will also include a real estate program adjacent to Whistler Village. Development on nine sites will be. complete in two to three years at a cost of $80 million. The total development features 254 acres of prime real estate on the lower slopes of Blackcomb Moun- tain, east of Fitzsimmons Creek, stretching from Whistler Village to Lost Lake. With an investment of more than $300 million over 15 years, Blackcomb will be close to 24 times larger than the present Whistler Village. The development will feature hotels, lodges, townhouses, condominiums, duplexes, as well as single-family homes. The development is managed by Vancouver’s In- trawest Properties on behalf of the owner, Blackcomb Skiing Enterprises. The location will allow skiers to drive directly to their accommodation and be at the top of the slopes within 14 minutes.
