Mouarids L Lian an Hillside class e j hratae CAIERT ates THE FIRST class to praduate fram) Hillside Secondary School Will celebrate its 20-vear reunien this spring, The 1967 class is scheduled ro meet May 18 and 16 The first meeting will take place at the school and is for graduates and teachers of that era, “Anybody who can associate with that class is welcome,’ said Ardis Reveley, who is organizing the event. Reveley is expecting 130 people. “The response is good,"’ she said. “People are coming from out of town as far as Toronto and Australia.”’ The first evening will be marked by memorabilia and the reading of letters of those not attending. Snacks and drinks will be available. The second evening is for grad- uates and spouses and will take place at the Vancouver Aquarium “among the fishes,’” Reveley said. A complete dinner will be served with drinks and appetizers. Both evenings will have music from the late 60s and dancing will be possible atthe quarium. Yellow ribbon sales launched A PROGRAM aimed at raising a minimum of $500,000 for Man In Motion Rick Hansea through the sale of yellow ribbons was launch- ed recently at Vancouver City Hall. The two-foot yellow ribbons will be sold for $f throughout the pro- vince over the next several weeks, with proceeds from the promotion going to the Rick Hansen Man In Motion Tour. The message of ‘Welcome Home, Rick’? will be stenciled on all the ribbons, and the public will be encouraged to wear or hang the ribbons as a visual demonstration of their support for Hansen’s World Tour. Vancouver Mayor Gordon Campbell purchased the first rib- bon offered for sale and tied it around a tree outside city hall. “Rick Hansen has succeeded in his courageous quest to raise awareness for handicapped people throughout the world,’ stated Tom Rust, honorary chairman of the B.C. Division of the Rick Hansen World Tour. ‘‘f urge all British Columbians to offer a hero’s welcome to Rick through their support of this program.’’ The ribbons will be available for sale at all Safeway and Essa loca- tions throughout the prevince, as well as radio station CKNW. The program was inspired by the American example of tying vellow ribbons around trees to welcome the Iran hostages home. Other uses for the ribbons cited by the program’s coordinators in- clude using the ribbons as Shoelaces; attaching them to automobile antennas: decorating storefronts and windows: adding color to office reception areas; and affixing them to house chimneys
