Track coach retires

NOR-WESTERS track and
field coach Charles
Collinson was honored at a
banquet Wednesday.

After 13 years with the
club, Collinson is moving to
Victoria, following his
retirement from the

Department of Fisheries.
Collinson has been named
to the B.C. Sports Hall of
Fame for his contributions
over the years, and has
coached many fine athletes
such as Lloyd Guss, Birgit
Otto, Andrew Dawson, and

Louise Penningtos, many of
whom were at the banquet
on Wednesday.

One of his athletes, Lloyd
Guss, will be participating in
the Commonwealth Games
in Brisbane, Australia, next
month.

Marlins win at regionals

The North Shore Winter
Club Marlins took first place
overall at the Vancouver and
District Regional A swim
meet August 14 and 15.

The Marlins came second
at the regional B tournament
the previous week.
