It will be staged at Hendry Hall, 11th & Hendry, commencing March 10, 1982. Although Hedda Gabler is set at the turn of the century, it bears the stamp of no particular country and no partcular time. Ibsen wrote about his play “What I Pnocipally wanted to do was to depict human beings, human emotions and human destinies.” The play is by no means dull and, un- doubtedly, has the power to grip and hold an audience. Director Gladys Smiley. a North Vancouver resident for over thirty years, is well- known in Vancouver theatrical circles. An actress and an adjudicator as well as a‘director.she has been seen in many Vancouver produc- tions over the years inclu- ding appearances at The Arts Club” Theatres on Seymour Street and on Granville Island and at Metro Theatre. She is presently directing the Waterhouse and Hall comedy “Say Who You Are” for Metro Theatre which will open on January 8. She also worked under the late Miss Janie Stevenson of U.B.C. both at the University and privately.
