North Van lacrosse side takes silver

After winning the league
championship and the
playoffs, the North Van-
couver women’s senior
lacrosse team had to settle
for the silver medal in last
weekend's provincial
championships.

Kirby's Klippettes proved
to be the Lynnwood Inn
team’s nemesis as they beat
the side twice in the Jouble
knockout tournament.

Playing at the North Van
Recreation Centre, the
North Van _ side opened
Strongly with two convincing
wins.

On Friday they downed
Coquitlam 13-1 with Liz
Borland and Sara Young
leading the attack.

Then Saturday morning.
N.Van again racked up 13
goals to down Victoria 13-3.
Debbie Rea had _ two goals

and four assists while Sara
Young was again out-
standing with three goals and
four assists.

In the afternoon N.Van ©

had to play again and fhis
time they were edged 6-5 by
Burnaby in the second
overtime period. Liz Libera
led N.Van with a hat-trick
and one assist.

North Van recovered from

Richmond 9-7.

This win set up a deciding
game between North Van
and Burnaby and once again
the strain of playing two
games in a short period of
time proved too much for
the Lynnwood Inn side as
they fost 7-4.

Coach A! Laboucane said
he was completely satisfied
with the team’s performance

North: and West Van-
couver lawn bowling clubs
recently concluded their
annual rivalry in two closed
competitions, with the clubs
splitting the winnings.

The Leyland Cup for
men’s fours was captured by
North Vancouver with an
aggregate score of 8-7.

The Miles trophy for
ladies fours resulted in West
Vancouver regaining the cup
by a score of 9-5.

Earlier this month the
West Van ladies club hosted
ap open tournament for
other local clubs.

The event was very
successful and the West Van
club was able to donate the
sum of $100 to aid the North
Van club which has un-
dertaken the colossal task of
hosting 125 contestants from
across Canada who will be
competing in the Canadian
championships, _
