Brownlie and Carlisle were among several hun- dred people at the Burnaby Lake Sports Cesrulex who walked, joggec the Do Tt cv: Dad! Prostate Cancer Walk and Run on June 20. The inaugural event was organized by the B.C. Foundation for Prostate Disease and raised $27,000 from the 250 participants according to coordinator Valerie Smaller. Carlisle, who chairs the North Shore Prostate Support and Awareness Group, donated $2,000 to the prostate cancer event, the most of any participant. Prostate cancer is the most common type of cancer in men and public awareness lacks in comparison to other forms of cancer. Fotheringham has recent- ly changed his dict according to his doctor's advice. Brownlie, who finished first in the run and coaches the Masters group at the West Vancouver Track and Field Club stressed the impor- tance of a healthly dict. “As a runner | strive to maintain a healthy diet, but dict alone is not a perfect Protection against any- thing,” Brownlie said.
