ORGANIZED sports
teams will continue
using West Vancouver
playing fields at no
charge.

The decision was made last

by West Vancouver
council.

Contrary to an original
task foree recommiendation,
councillors voted to re
propoyal that would have scen
sports groups pay a fee ta use
local fields.

Adults and children would
have had to pay a $30 and $15
“per participant per activity”

fee respecuvely.

But thanks to) pressure
frown sports organizations,
coune?! suppo.ted striking the
recommendation trom the
list.

What remains trom. the
original Fe-s and Charges
Task Fore report is seven
points designed to better
structure how fee increases
and subsidies might be iniple-
menied.

Any future program) fees
will be determined by the
direct’ costs of supplies and
instructor wages and may also
include land, planning and
infrastructure costs where
applicable.

There are also provisions

included in the report that
guarantee fair and equal access
to recreation programs for
everyone, inciuding non-resi-
dents and thase unable to pay
full price.
