10 — Wednesday, October 2, 1996 — North Shore News ¥ Team manager taken to task Dear Editor: Ninety-six per cent of dog owners are irresponsible people. That is the assuniption of Tony Roper, manager of the Mount Seymour U12 Cougars soccer team, based on landlord statis- tics. Mr. Roper leaves no stone unturned in search of statistics to fit the need. The assump- tion is absurd! (Cougars Stalk Dogs, Friday, Sept. 13). Roper suggested a method of dealing with dog owners he sees in McCartney, Kirkstone or Myrtle Park that is totally unacceptable. The — pet owner’s home would be locat- ed, the Mount Seymour U12 Cougars soccer team would be brought there, and they would, in the vernacular of -Roper, take a wizz on the pet owner’s front lawn, This person would do no "Jess than what the pet owners are being accused of doing — with children under the age of 12 . “This person would do no less than what the pet owners are being accused of doing — with ‘children under the age of 12.” Based on Roper’s confrontational style of problem-solving, I would advise the parents of the Mount Seymour U12 Cougars soccer team to examine more closely this person’s suitability to D.
