Colleen Rohde, manager of legislative services for North Vancouver. District, said the district. has decided to adopt the procedure for this election rather than the alphabetical voting system used in the past. “Therefore, the names are not in alphabetical order on the ballots,”’ said Rohde. North Vancouver City has also decided to use the lot system. West Vancouver District will con- tinue to use the ‘system of listing ‘candidates ‘on ballots in alphabetical order. ; preferably include photo iden- tification, If the identification docs not contain a resident’s current ad- dress, some election officials sug- gest that the unregistered voter should bring along a recent BC Tel or BC Hydro bill stub bearing the correct address. Residents have an option to vote for several people running for seats as councillors and school trustees. Residents do not have to vote for the maximum number of seats available, For example, a school-trustee ballot will be accepted if there is only one X beside a name when there is an option of placing an X beside five names on the ballot. He was not challenged for the seat, In NVC and NVD, an X or a check mark within the box is an acceptable way to mark ballots. But a mixture of X and check murks on the same ballot will be rejected. In WVD, it is recom- mended to mark ballots with an Xx. Any niarks or writing outside the boxes will ‘‘spoil’’ the ballot. Spoiled ballots are not counted. Polls are open between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday. Unofficial winners wiil be an- nounced later in the evening. All three municipal halls will be Open on Saturday if residents have questions concerning voting.
