centre in Chetwynd.

A second award was given to
West Vancouver's Director of
Parks and Recreation Kevin Pike,

who has been with the district for
over a year.

Yates complimented Pike on his
list of achievements, including
Pike’s many years of involvement
with the B.C. Recreation and
Parks Association.

“One of Kevin's greatest assets
is his ability to work with peo-
ple,’* said Yates.

The association was impressed
with the landing developmeny’s
features, particularly the provi-
sions that were made for the
handicapped.

Yates also noted the restoration
of West Vancouver’s ferry termi-
nal building at the foot of I4th
Street. The building is now used
for arts display.

Most recently, a jade sculpture
was unveiled in a new West Van-
couver fountain which Yates
predicted would be a good place
for people to cool their feet in the
summer.

There were 11 facilities
nominated for the award given to
West Vancouver.

The other three projects that
also received recognition from the
parks association included the
Minoru. seniors centre in Rich-
mond,
