THE ETHICAL impact of the fast
five years of medicine is the topic
of an upcoming tecture and discus:
sion sponsored by Lions Gate
Hospital and Gloria Dei Cutheran
Church.

The lecture will feature David J.
Roy, founder and director of the
Centre for Bioethics, Clinical
Research Enstitute of Montreal,

Roy is a research professor in
the Department of Medicine at the

Universite de Montreal and has
coordinated and taught courses in
medical ethics and jurisprudence in
the medical schools of | MeGill
University. in’ Montreal and the
Universite Laval in Quebec City.
Roy holds degrees in
mathenatics, phitvsophy and the-
ology, He serves as a cousultant to
doctors, health care professioniuls
and government on ethical pro-
bles in medicine and clinical

leseareh, and devates most of his
lime to researeh on ethical issues in
clinical medigine and biomedical
science,

Ray has published extensively on
a broad range of ethical issues. He
was ane of Canada's three official
iepresentatives to the summit ta.
Hons’ international meclings on
bioethics. He is part of a working
group setup by the Royal Society
of Canada to assess the iinpact of

AEDS on Canadians and he also
sits on the newly-formed working
group on AIDS set up by the
Quebee government,

The lecture and discussion will
