Saturday, August 7, has been designated ‘Come Home To The Cove Day”’ and will also mark the SOth anniversary of the Deep Cove Yacht Club. The event is designed to recapture the spirit of the famous pre-war regattas—- with sailboat races, rowboat races and swimming con- tests. Entertainment ashore will include a steel band, Scottish country dancing and a show from the gay twenties | by the Deep Cove Stage. Over the past. three- months invitations have.been - North Shore News sent to some 400 former Deep Cove residents throughout Canada and the -U.S., and many enthusiastic replies have already, been received, says convenor Janet Pavlik. Registration will begin at noon at the village hall, with a welcoming committee to bring old friends and neigh- bors together. The day’s events start at 1:30 p.m. and will wind up with a bonfire and sing-along on the beach around 9: 30 p-m. ¢ Among other attractions will be the showing, through- out the afternoon, of the 10-part serial on life in Deep Cove over the years, made for the North Shore’s comm- unity TV channel 10: At 3:30 p.m: a movie of the 1936 Deep Cove regatta will be screened.
