In the tradition of the great botanical artists Redoute and Besler, the Lions Bay artist paints plant life with mathemarical precision. Considered an expert in her field, her watercolour paintings are sought for inter- national horticultural publica- tions. Yet they appeal equally well to art lovers who want to hang them on their walls, savs Chris = Harrison, = whose Harrison Galleries currently features a show of the artist’s work at its south Granville Surect Jocation. And unlike book plate etchings, Comber Miles’ botanical portraits are all orig- inals, produced in watercolour and priced from $500 to $2,200 apiece. “It's nice to see thar it isn't actually a lost are and that people really do appreciate what goes into them,” said the gallery owner of the pub- lic’s reception to the more than 100 original water- colours produced by the artist and on view in the gallery to April 3. The artist and the gallery will donate part proceeds from the sale of the water- colours to Van Dusen Botinical Gardens, where Comber Miles is honourary ardst. — Layne Christensen 986-8515 231 LONSDALE AVE., NORTH VANCOUVER .
