great in its name deserves
assessment.

And any restaurant able to suc-
ceed with the quirky components
of the Great Canadian Sandwich
Pie Co. deserves applause.

The Pie Co, resides in one of the
last houses remaining along the
banks of North Vancouver's trat-
tic-congested Marine Drive strip.

As with any survivor, the loca-
tion has an interesting past.
Previous to its Pie Co. assignment
it housed dealers of rugs, South

American bric-a-brac and ceramic &

garden dwarves.

It also served as a home base tor
a group of North Shore
Rastafarians.

Character, then, is its strong suit.

The house is a nondescript white
stucco building — the kind of
place where you used to hang out
before you got married.

You know, the place where a
hockey game was always on the
