District plans to move its water system control centre from its North Vancouver ‘beach yard’ on the east shore of the Seyeiour River to its new $6 million Opera- tions Centre in Burnaby. The move wili take place in con- junction with the computerizatior of its large and complex Lower Mainland water distribution system. But GVRD spokesman Dud Elsie said the North Vancouver yard will remain in operation as a work yard. At present the water system, which services 1.3 million people in Heaith branches to consolidate THE NORTH Shore Health Department will consolidate its North and West Vancouver bran- ches in a single Lower Lonsdale location within approximately 12 months. Located in a proposed six-storey building to be built at the site cur- rently occupied by the the Keg & Cleaver restaurant at 134 West Esplanade in North Vancouver Ci- ty, the new health department fa- cilities will occupy close to 20,000 square feet on two floors of the new building. The health, department and its 90 employees currently operate out of four inadequate locations around the North Shore. Total space is approximately 15,000 square fect. Murray Dykeman, chairman of the North Shore Union Board of Health, which manages the local health department, said the move is expected within about a year.
